What still needs checking
- OHA's solid-products/concentrate wording should be checked against current OLCC rules before publication if a product-level calculator is added.
- Oregon's official ORS §475C.229 supplies the import/export prohibition. The guide does not quote penalty tiers.
Possession and use
Oregon Health Authority lists a two-ounce limit for usable marijuana in public and eight ounces at home for adults 21 or older. Separate limits cover 16 ounces of solid cannabinoid products or concentrates, 72 ounces of liquids, and one ounce of extracts purchased from a retailer. Public use and impaired driving remain illegal.
Medical access
The Oregon Medical Marijuana Act provides a separate route for qualifying medical conditions. The Oregon Health Authority administers patient registration; the Liquor and Cannabis Commission directs applicants back to OHA for a medical registry card. An adult 21 or older does not need a medical card to buy through adult-use retail.
Home cultivation
Adults 21 and over may grow four plants per household. A medical patient growing at their own registered residence may have six mature and twelve immature plants, regardless of immature plant height. The patient-residence site ceiling is twelve mature and twenty-four immature plants across all residents. Recreational plants require another person living there and count within those site totals. Growers at another address have different zoning and plant-height categories; consult OHA guidance. Property permissions and local restrictions still apply.
Buying cannabis
Adults 21 or older with valid identification may buy from an OLCC-licensed recreational retailer. Cities and counties can prohibit licensed retailers within their boundaries, so the legal statewide market does not mean a shop is available in every locality. Medical registrants have a distinct program; do not assume adult-use purchase limits are the same as medical allotments.
Taxes
Licensed recreational retailers must charge Oregon's 17% state marijuana retail tax. A city or county with voter approval may add up to 3%, and many have adopted that full local rate. Check the store's local rate before calculating the total; the cited tax pages concern recreational sales.
Visitors and travel
A visiting adult can buy at an OLCC recreational retailer with valid identification. Oregon Revised Statutes §475C.229 prohibits importing marijuana items into Oregon or exporting them from Oregon. Plan to obtain and use cannabis within Oregon and follow public-use and impaired-driving restrictions.
