How the tax works
Arkansas medical marijuana sales pay 6.5% state sales tax plus the city and county sales tax at the dispensary. This calculator rounds the full combined sales rate once. On a $100 actual selling price before sales tax, a dispensary inside Little Rock in Pulaski County has an 8.625% combined rate and an estimated $108.63 total. The five listed city-and-county examples are from the state's October–December 2026 table.
Dispensaries also owe a 4% marijuana privilege tax on their sales. It is a business tax and this tool does not add 4% automatically to the patient's receipt. The store may already include its cost in the shelf price or charge an extra amount. Enter the actual price including any store-added amount before sales tax; ask the store if a menu price leaves that amount out. The result excludes other goods, fees and eligibility questions.
Enter the actual selling price after store discounts, including any seller-added privilege amount, but before sales tax. If the menu price omits a seller charge, ask for the full pre-sales-tax price first. Other items and fees may need separate treatment.
Rates and eligibility can change. Check the official sources, your transaction type and location before relying on a checkout estimate. This is general information, not tax or legal advice.
Why does this Arkansas calculator not add 4% automatically?
Arkansas imposes a 4% medical-marijuana privilege tax on the dispensary or other marijuana business. The store may reflect that cost in its price or add an amount. Enter the actual selling price before sales tax, including any store-added amount. Official source
What if the Arkansas menu price leaves out a store surcharge?
Ask the dispensary for its final selling price before sales tax and enter that amount. Arkansas’s sales-price rule includes seller taxes and charges in the taxable price; a menu price alone may not be enough for an accurate estimate. Official source
How are Arkansas city and county sales taxes calculated?
Add the applicable city and county rates to the 6.5% state sales rate, then calculate and round the combined sales tax once. The listed rates apply only inside the named city and county during October–December 2026. Official source
How do I check an Arkansas dispensary outside the listed cities?
Use the Arkansas DFA address lookup for the dispensary and purchase date, then enter the full state, city and county sales-tax rate. An unknown location shows only a 6.5% state-rate minimum. Official source
