Estimate checkout total

Enter the price and purchase type. Choose a checked adult-use city or town or enter a local transfer rate you have verified. Otherwise the total appears as a range.

How the tax works

New Jersey charges 6.625% sales tax on adult-use cannabis. A city or town may also impose a separately stated local transfer tax of up to 2% on the pretax sale. On a $100 adult-use purchase, state sales tax rounds to $6.63; the total runs from $106.63 without local tax to $108.63 with a 2% local rate. This estimate treats the separately listed local tax as another charge on the pretax price; check the store receipt. Only three checked adult-use city or town rates are listed here.

Registered medical cannabis sales have no state sales tax, but a local transfer tax of up to 2% may still apply. Without a verified medical local rate, a $100 medical purchase shows $100–$102. A listed adult-use city rate must not be assumed for medical purchases. State cultivation and social-equity business fees are not direct consumer taxes added here.

Use a pretax retail price after discounts, excluding separately stated taxes. Tax-inclusive advertised prices must be converted to a pretax price first. Store fees, delivery charges and receipt rounding can change the amount owed; this estimate does not resolve their tax treatment.
